Our Mission
The mission of the Galveston-Texas City Pilots is to guide vessels safely to their berths or out to sea. A Galveston-Texas City Pilot’s primary responsibility is to protect the public interest of the State of Texas by facilitating the safe and efficient movement of vessels in state waters by exercising independent judgment to protect the property, lives, environment and the economic well-being of the Ports of Galveston County.

Galveston Texas City Pilots Receive the H. Rudy Teichman Maritime Wheel of Excellence Award
The Galveston Texas City Pilots were honored to receive the H. Rudy Teichman Maritime Wheel of Excellence Award at the 178th Annual Meeting of the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce. This award was possible only through the hard work of all the Pilots, Dispatchers, Crew, and Staff, in addition to our strong community partnerships.
Captain Mark Saunders accepted the award on behalf of the Galveston Texas City Pilots.

The Galveston-Texas City Pilots were proud to bring the Battleship Texas in to the Port of Galveston this Fall. This is the culmination of months of planning and coordination.
There has been a lot of buzz around this ship movement, but this type of operation is nothing new for the Galveston – Texas City Pilots. The procedures followed are the same as they would be with any dead or oversized vessel. Just another day in the Galveston Ship Channel, except today is filled with the pride and honor of moving such a historic vessel.
